Design & Measure

Your bespoke experience starts when you arrive at our shop.

Charles, our master tailor, will be there to welcome and measure you, and then help you with design & style. This is the first consultation in a lifelong relationship.

Handmade in Australia

We create a one-of-a-kind pattern cut to your body shape. This is the true bespoke advantage, as even made-to-measure shirts use a pre-existing pattern that is only partially customised.

All the shirts are handmade in Sydney from start to finish.

Fitting

Charles will only make one shirt first, to be sure of your fit.

We ensure the fit is perfect, and you can appreciate the complete work, check you like the feel of the collar, for example, and sometimes decide on stylistic changes.

What should you expect on your first appointment with a master tailor?

A detailed guide to the bespoke shirts process

From the initial measurements for your made to measure shirt to your fitting.

Step 1

Book an appointment

Once you have decided you want your custom-made shirt, the first step is to book an appointment. We receive customers by appointment only. It is important to realise measurements and the choosing of fabrics and style can take time. We make ourselves available to you from weekdays to weekends and after hours. Visit our contact page for details on booking your appointment.

Step 2

Taking your measurements

Your bespoke experience starts when you open our shop door.

Charles, our master tailor, will be there to welcome you and figure out both your expectations and the shirt style you want. This is the first consultation in a lifelong relationship.

Your customer profile is kept in a private file with all the information needed for any future shirts you might order. We will precisely measure you and take notes about your lifestyle, posture, neck and shoulder slope, and other important information. We pride ourselves on our attention to detail, which means all our shirts are a perfect fit.

You cannot remotely measure yourself for the precision of our craftsmanship. Should you want to order without consultation, you need a professional tailor to measure you with our precise instructions. We need 32 different measurements to make your ideal shirt from collar size, arm length, shoulder width, back and more. This attention to detail produces the continuous and unmatched quality of our shirts.

Step 3

Choosing your style and fabric

The fun truly begins after the measurements! Now you can start thinking about all the styles, colours and options that are open to you. We will help you select a shirt fabric in line with the occasion and event you plan to wear it on.

Do you need formal shirts, work shirts or casual ones? We also pay attention to your complexion, hair and eye colour and the way you wear your shirt: tie, no tie, cufflinks and more.

We carry a large stock of the highest quality shirt fabric for all occasions, and you can browse through our swatch books for the perfect fit. Our immense library of materials provides you with a wide stylish choice.

We understand if you want guidance on your initial introduction to tailored shirts and, based on decades of experience, will recommend fabric types suited to your needs.

Once your fabric is selected, we will look at the details of your first shirt order. You will have to choose the collars you want, cuffs, plackets, buttons, pleats and more. Again, our bespoke tailor can offer expert assistance and recommendations so as not to overwhelm you.

Step 4

When the magic of creation happens

All your measurements previously taken are used at this stage to create a one-of-a-kind pattern explicitly cut to your body shape. This is the true bespoke advantage, as even made-to-measure shirts use a pre-existing pattern that is only partially customised to fit the most obvious body specificities. More craftsmanship and knowledge are involved in bespoke shirts, and the quality and fit reflect the extra efforts.

The paper pattern is kept in our file for all your future shirts, pending slight modifications after the first one and later through the years as your body changes.

Charles cuts the fabric himself, and all the shirts are handmade in our establishment from start to finish.

Step 5

Fitting and modifications

Charles will only make one shirt first, to be sure of your fit and minimise the need for any modification before starting on a multiple shirt order. He will complete that shirt entirely before your fitting, so no details are left to your imagination when you are trying it on. We ensure the fit of the shirt is spot on, and you can appreciate the complete work, check you like the feel of the collar, for example, and sometimes decide on stylistic changes. If you are both happy with the fit of the shirt, we recommend that you wear it for a few days, wash it and make sure every detail is to your liking. Once you confirm this vital step, the rest of your order will be completed. Sometimes, there may be modifications to make, in which case the shirt will be altered. Rarely, if the amendments are significant, you might have a second fitting.

Step 6

Pick up or delivery

Once your shirt is finished, you can pick it up from our shop, or we can send it to you. We work for your convenience and are open as required.
